Forget off roading, my wife has an evoque (im the fl2 owner) and its ten year old verde all season are end of life!!
So i started to think, on English roads are all season tyres that much better?, id imagine that 90% of all cars on the road use summer tyres.
Then my thoughts wandered to do tyres improve? the verdes are still i believe current fit on lr vehicles, would not a ten year newer dsign like the crossclimate 2 be better?
Oh and one last question, why a 107 xl rating on an evoque?, seems a bit ott

my choices are down to a new set of verdes , crossclimate 2 suv or pilot sport4 suv (summer rated)

god tyres are such an expensive nightmare

For myself all season tyres are about not just frosty roads but more wet roads and there is plenty of those currently. I am more than happy with my change to Bridgestone Turanza 6

All season especially if they last another 10 Years

Michelin CrossClimate 2 every time.

They ride better and quieter. They handle better and their wet weather/snow/grass performance is remarkable.

They also have a good life; I'm now on my second set and Michelin tyres are now fitted to my Jaguar XK and Lotus Elan Sprint. Tim

If you never venture off-road more than a grass field car park , Michelin Cross Climate or Bridgestone A005 weather control are brilliant all round tyres . I’ve had 3 sets of each on various vehicles over the last 8 years . They are just fine in summer , remember today’s tyre is 20 years of development on from when the FL2 was on the drawing board ! Pirelli ATR are magic All Terrain tyres on a FL2 , as quiet as the all season tyres , great road performance summer and winter , however they don’t stop as well in the wet as the All season , but offer tremendous off road ability , the braking comment is not a criticism it’s a fact , all tyres are a compromise between their ability and your use of the vehicle . 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

I've not lived in England but given what I know, unless you want summer performance tires, all seasons or all terrain are the way to go.

In Canada, the winters can be brutal. Tons of snow and ice possible for weeks and months at a time. Here, you definitely need dedicated winters. Some provinces mandate it.

I run INSA Turbo Ranger, big block tyres, great for the UK road pot holes, but they are noisy.

General Grabber AT3's on the daily. Quiet but sturdy, great in the wet and snow. Perfect for our mixed climate and the rural roads around here without actually venturing 'offroad'.

Big fan of the Generals as an all terrain.

I've used Bridgestone A005 allseason for some time,
ride is good, quiet and wet weather grip excellent.

Can't go wrong with Michelin!

Mine left the factory with Goodyear Wrangler HP AW, which while not perfect, are good on all places I'd ever need to go, and don't cost a fortune either.
LR must have chosen them for a reason, so I'd stick with LR's choice. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.
