Dismal, Evoque

Just had an, Evoque, loan car whilst my, Freelander was having an, Automatic software update.
I have to report it was like sitting in a, "black hole", compared to the, Freelander. My wife hated it as soon as she got in it and said it was like sitting in a, Ford Focus. It was black with black interior. I was surprised how low down you sit in it and the windows are so small. Can safely cross this one off the list.

When we have had Evoque loan cars, we are always disappointed with the seats, driving position, and view out.

My wife also complains about the feeling of the lack of space around her. We are both glad to get back in our Freelander, and I find it easier to place on the road in heavy city traffic.

On the other hand, I love the driving the Range Rover Sport, when I get the chance. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

JLR had a excellent platform to progress from but they made the Evoque (which has been a super hit for them) it’s just not been very popular amongst 95% of FL2 owners.

On the other hand the DS Rolling Eyes well I don’t know what to say about that. It feels like your in an Audi All Road!

Initially JLR were going to make a 7 seater FL 2 the car would have grown massively it’s the traditionally box shape however plans were scrapped as JLR said it would cannabolise sales of the D4. It would have been not much off size wise but hell of a lot cheaper.

I had the same experiance with the discovery sport today.
(The Freel was for service at the dealer). All black interior incl. The headling.
Did feel cloustrofobic, and the view arround was not great. 'per aspera ad astra'

Now that is something I would have liked to see Mr Nut. If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

The Evoque is it’s own car, it’s not a replacement for anything. It’s sole purpose was to attract buyers, which it did in abundance and put LR back in the black.

Would much rather have the Evoque over the abomination that is the DS absolutely hate that car, the ride is rock hard, the interior is made from the plastic inserts from a box of milk tray, hated my one the day I picked it up. It lasted 6 months and it had to go.

I had one last year as a loan car, top spec HSE Dynamic priced about £55k but didn’t come with the adaptive dampers and dynamic program, kind of defeats the purpose of having a dynamic. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Never quite got those dark roof interiors as they feel claustrophobic imo.

I wasn’t a fan but my Velar came with it, standard on R-Dynamic models though can be changed for the light coloured one, if I had more time to amend the spec I perhaps would’ve changed it but I’m used to it now. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

I would have loved to have an ebony headlining in the FL2 but it was never an option from new. It would be ideal for those who carry large volumes of kit in the car as it would save the headlining and the interior C and D pillars getting easily marked.

I did look at doing a custom ebony suede headlining in mine Whistle still got time Laughing MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

I’m glad I read all these posts as I’ve been thinking of switching to an evoque but talked myself in and out of it for the very reasons talked about here so it’s helped me convince myself it’s not a good move and think the freelander will be staying for now ..

That’s one bonus to the ebony headliner.

Not the best photo, taken by my salesman on his dealership iPad thing when my car first arrived at the dealership.
