Rear wheels are very close to each other and it looks almost tread to tread.
Bearing in mind that [at point of potential contact] each tread will be going in the opposite direction to the other, I wonder what would happen if it throws up a small rock and it gets in between the treads [that's assuming it is used off road of course]. In technical terms, though, is it still a 110? Is the wheelbase of a vehicle not the distance between the front-most and rear-most wheels?

Years ago, when I was looking for a safari vehicle, I nearly bought a 6x4 RR Classic. What put me off was the (to my eyes) botched rear end bodywork. It had twin side-hinged rear doors (like the old mini clubman estate) and just looked wrong - even if it did perhaps make for a more useful load access. What should have put me off was the extra weight, running costs, increased risk of punctures and sheer impracticality of the length of it!

EDIT: I stand corrected! Wikipedia suggests that the wheelbase of a tri-axle vehicle is measured from the centre of the steering axle to a point mid-way between the two rear axles. Which I am betting on this vehicle is longer than 110! 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

The soft top bit is more about having free access for discharging firearms than lazy summer days.

Different people have been doing the six wheel versions over the years since the days of the Series II but very few indeed have managed to make the extra axle drive. Everyone can spread it - Anyone can catch it. Stay home - the life you save can be your own!

United Kingdom 2012 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Firenze Red

Had a look under the 6 wheeled Khan Defender at Billing a couple of years ago and it was indeed a 6x6. It had a stretched chassis and body including stretched front wings and bonnet. Whatever your thoughts on what Khan turn out in terms of style I was very very impressed with the quality of the workmanship. It had the straightest bodywork that I had ever seen on a Defender! It also had a stunning leather interior with what I thought was the highest attention to detail even although quilted seats are not my cup of tea!

Only place wood belongs is in the log burner or in a kitchen. I’ve got the extended grand black lacquer interior in mine consisting of the horrid plastic cold feeling aluminium surround and sat nav centre piece finished in piano black.
