Nope, I suspect that we would lose the 330m profit that the Crown Estate currently pays to the treasury...... Rolling Eyes

England

Er, No, you will find an elected President or other title will cost at least twice as much as a Royal head of state, at the moment Parliament controls the Royal Purse, with an elected leader they will be from the government of the day and the wish for an Airbus 380 as the presidential mode of transport will be overwhelming as will the need to update Buck house at a cost of billions as it has overtones of the deposed monarchy. There again they may well want a new palace for the leader again at a cost of a billion or so Rolling Eyes my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Do you think so? I think he is planning to depose the current monarchy gang and make himself King Corbyn.

Nice to see a right royal Landy still in service. Pity that Jaguar all but removed themselves from the market for large executive, ministerial and government vip cars by their obsession with squashing the roof on their saloons.
Every XJ sold should come with tickets for a Limbo Dancing Experience Day at an approved centre - methinks too many ministers have bashed their brain boxes on the roof line trying to get in and out of their XJs.
(May account for some recent wrong headed thinking Rolling Eyes .........)

Another year has passed since the last post on this matter and he is still driving his FL2. He must be getting good advice. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

JLR get a lot of free publicity from Royals and politicians driving around in Land/Range Rovers. It will be interesting to see what cars are used for the Royal Wedding this weekend. Could be the ultimate product placement opportunity with an expected worldwide TV audience of a couple of billion people. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I for one are proud to be British.
I love the Monarchy because it stands for the British upper lip/we can attitude/fly the flag/proud and fight/ and our way of life.
I will not go into this as I know it would cause arguments and upset some.
That is just my personal opinion and in this country i am allowed to have that.
For one I am proud to see him better at his age, that would have see many a groat moan and mooch for months off work to recover.
Yes he has a medical crew second to none but that don't make you heal earlier.
Well don Philip.

But the best thing is he's driving a FL2
And don't they look lovely in it.

Thumbs Up for all the British out there.

I had a brief few words with the Duke of Edinburgh a few years back when he and the Queen visited the Helicopter Museum.
He seemed quite pleasent.

The Heli Museum is not very far from where I live and I have volunteered there doing a bit of engineering/restoration for some time.
I am presently working on a Belvedere, an early twin rotor machine built by Bristol Aircraft.

If you are in the Weston Super Mare area, it is quite worth a visit.

I watched a bit of the Wedding yesterday and although I am not particularly a Monarchist it struck me that no other country on earth could have put on an event like that which reached a TV audience of nearly 2bn. Got to be good for UK plc. Oh and that 4hp Landau looked pretty cool too in an understated sort of way. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Takes me back. I once marshalled a Belvedere in my early days at Changi. What a fright! The Indonesians used to call them “ Flying Longhouses”.
