After 6 weeks outback, the Freelander's halogen lights are appalling! They are ok in the city but that is not the point of a Land Rover.

Ancient history: My Peugeot 504 had 4 round head lights. The outer lights were low & high beam. The inner lights were high beam only with 130 watt halogen globes. I added a pair of additional driving lights but after a few years removed them because the car's own 4 round lights were so good. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!
