The V90CC is on its way but I think it will be a bit steeply priced for an estate. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200 |

The D5 model is AWD, to be honest I wouldn't need that, I bought the FL2 after a Merc, I live quite high and winter (was) an issue, I was doing 35-40k miles a year, now I am my own boss I can open the curtains and if it's white over, can put my slippers on, turn up the heat and stay put. The Volvo is a good spec, throw in a few extras to match the FL2, heated wheel, front screen etc and the price is ok, around £42k on the build I did. The FL2 will get me through this winter then decision time in spring, the yet but the V90 is ahead by some margin at present, it the T8 hybrid comes out, I might just go daft |

I had a brief look at the Merc E class estate seems a fair bit of kit for the money but I think the Volvo is the better looking of the two. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200 |

Hmmmm I can see where your coming from in a way. My great great grandad started off the LR craze in the family. The vehicles now have changed drastically only model still available in the line up range that resembles an LR is the Disco which is on numbered days!

I'm thinking of walking away from LR myself. I'm no longer LRs target customer, they don't want the working class, absolutely love the Disco, it's always been my favourite but the Fl2 was more suited to my lifestyle and still felt proper LR. If this D5 (will be my 9th LR) is overpriced then I will probably keep my one for another year and then move on perhaps the F-Pace. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200 |

Why not just keep yours for the full 5 years ? I will be keeping my FL2 for 5 and will purchase an approved warranty! By that time the new Defender will be out hopefully MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

3 years is the max I would keep a car, I'm in no rush to sell it but with my salesman offering "strong money" as he put for my current Disco as he has someone wanting it I'm thinking why not go for the D5 if the trade in is right and D5 price is right. The new Defender should be ready for launch in 2018, which would work out for me, but I'm thinking do I really a big off road car? The F-Pace is jumping out at me at the moment, my salesman knows this I've dealt with him for 10 years so it's time to play the game and start squeezing hard 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200 |

Just before I packed in work I was looking at Volvos. The fleet manager could get me 28% discount on the retail of the XC60, and a fair chunk of change on the rest of the range. Volvo are in a funny position, not small enough to be niche and not big enough to be mainstream and desperate to sell cars . You only have to go into a typical Volvo dealer to see the difference between them and the " Gin Palaces" that sell LR. ( to be fair though LR are selling cars that compete with Bentley and Porsche so they have to have that overhead) The XC 60 demo I had (with sports seats ) was one of the most comfortable cars I've ever driven and a very classy cabin but I didn't want a " me too " Haldex 4x4 so I passed on it. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership 2016 Subaru Outback SE 2.0 diesel SE Premium Lineartronic Sold 2024 after 8 years and 80k miles .
