19" Thres

I need your input and experience guys!

I am in the process of buying four new tyres (235 55 19") for my summer wheels and not sure what to go for. I know I have to go 105v which is cool.

So my short list is :-

Goodyear Wrangler HP All Weather (Not all season)

Pirelli Scoprion Verde

Continental Conti Eco Contact 5

Continental Cross Contact UHP

My requirements are purely a summer tyre that gives good grip in wet and dry conditions. Not bothered about the winter as I have my winter set up.

What are your experiences with the above options? Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

I'm seriously considering Nokian zLine SUV for 19" summer, excellent reviews and a great wet weather rating, which seems to be very important for a British summer Laughing I certainly would say take a look at them.

Why did you sell your 20's? Did you find them too small Laughing

I would opt for the Good Year Wrangler HP it was LRs choice of tyre on D2's fitted with 18" alloys and from memory was still at school then both of our MY04 D2's got a respectable 40k from them tyres. Bearing in mind a D2 is a heavy car and that you will really only be using them for 6/8 months of the year they will last you a while. MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

I'd recommend Nokian Z line SUV's. Great tyres for the money ( and I'm fussy about tyres) 2014 SE Loire Blue SD4 Auto (MY15)

Just fancied a change Ed. I looked at a few pics of our car in the show room when we collected it, with the HSE Lux wheels and it looked really good!

So although it will be back to standard, to me it will be a change and freshen up the car. But thanks for the feedback on the Goodyears! Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Do you need any form of off road capability?

If not then Michelin Latitude Tour are a great road only option - not cheap but very smooth and very long lasting.

Sorry, forgot to say, the Good Years do have a bit of off road capability but have a reputation for a bit of noise and vibration once half worn.

I like them though, because of their all round capability.

I heard about the vibration issue which puts me off a little. No need for serious off road use. Problem with the Michelins is I can't find any of the Lattitude Tours with a 105 rating. They seem to be all 101. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Did I read that the Pirelli's Scorpion Verdes rumble a bit as well? Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Mav, I have the scorpion verde and I almost always just use the car below 90km/ HR and don't hear a sound. however when I do go on the freeway at about 115km/hr I can definitely hear them but cannot feel them. It's not an annoying sound but one I would rather not have all the same.

I should add, i was about to write how good they are because I almost never travel at high speeds and thus I almost completely forgot they are noisy so if your just in the suburbs etc I wouldn't let it out you off 2011 black FL2

I don't mind hearing a little tyre noise, I just don't want to feel the rumble if they wear unevenly.

Bare in mind that these tyres may only do 6/7000 miles a year. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Mine are only a few months old so I can't tell you about uneven wear, though I can't see why they would be any different wearing to any other tyre, usually that has more todo with the driving style.

Given what you have said I'd recommend the verde 2011 black FL2

How odd, from their website it seems that Michelin only make the 101 load rating in that size. That probably explains why you can't find any 105s!

Sorry about that, they were great on my D2...... different size!

I agree with the earlier post about Nokians, I had them on my Jag and had unbelievable grip in wet and dry (their winter tyres also being the best I have ever had) the only criticism being the wear factor, but I would prefer the extra confidence they inspire and change them a little more often....... Very Happy

Price / Quality EXCELLENT
