2008 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Narvik Black
Windscreen Wipers

I am having trouble (again) with the windscreen wipers, mainly that they are dragging across the windscreen, even in heavy rain. I have bought quality ones, rather than cheapies, but still have the problem. I was told that they may be pressing too hard on the screen, as there is too much tension on the arm. Not sure if this is correct, and, if so, can the arms on mine be adjusted?

Steve.

Try this stuff, I'm sure it's available in the UK, really works Thumbs Up

Stops blades catching on screen and no need to adjust!

Trust me!! I'm an Australian!!! It's a novelty to use the wipers but when you do you don't want them skating across the screen😡😡😡😡. Very damn anoying!!! Rolling with laughter

This stuff really works, water beads and runs off screen like well polished paint work! Wipers glide across screen!! good luck Thumbs Up MY15

Rolling Eyes I use Rainx, if applied correctly, as opposed to wiped on and wiped off, it works fine, I have used it on many cars over the years without issue.

Well! Interesting!! Totally cured my shuddering wipers on my new FL2 and my last FL1 with one application lasting a decade.
Swear by it!
My wipers glide across screen now and perfect coverage, no smear!
As long as you apply correctly its excellent and last for ever from my experience. MY15

I did it ran out Laughing

Always spray a light mist of water on lastly and buff off, make sure the wipers are clean. Never have any issues doing it this way, if you don't buff the stuff off it gets on the blades and, I guess, coats them and gives a problem.

In fact my screen needs doing so i will go and try it now. Thumbs Up

I must admit, the MER stuff I did find better in use, haven't seen it in a while and Rain X was on offer.

Just been out and cleaned the windscreen, applied Rain X, rinsed and polished off, not a single judder.

Clean the screen first to get back to the glass

Buff the cleaner off and rinse the screen, polish dry then apply Rain X

Soak the screen and polish dry and job done Thumbs Up

I use Simoniz Mixra windscreen cleaner spray which means you don't even have to leave the drivers seat to clean the windscreen just open drivers window arm out spray windscreen with the foam then squirt the washers and let the wiper blades do the work. This also cleans the traffic film greese etc off the wiper blade rubber resulting in a smooth clean wipe.

I paid £1.29 for a large spray can from my local Trago mills store.

Well, I remembered having some RainX in my shed, so followed the instructions and applied to front, back and side windows.
The wiper blades now work properly, and don't shudder anymore.
Rain just 'beads away' too.

I recommend this product. Very Happy
