Had two 'Witters' for two cars in five years, no play and no knocks on either,

Whoever told you that was fobbing you off, if it had play then it was machined badly with excessive tolerance.

Just phoned the Landrover dealer & if you have an after market towbar fitted to the car into the electrics it will invalidate that part of the warranty. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.
(Past) RR Evoque Dynamic Lux Si4 In Firenze Red.
(Past) RR Evouque Pure Tech in Barollo Black with bespoke Firenze Red colour coding.

All depends on who you talk to, I bought the unregistered showroom car and my new car was sent down the road to 'TowOne trailers' by the dealer to have a Witter detachable fitted with a CANBUS dedicated loom and is covered by warranty. It was part of the deal in purchasing the car and is written into the purchasing agreement.

If you decide to have one fitted after purchase then as long as it is a CANBUS compatible loom and 'plug and play' as in your case, there is no comeback.

Issues only arise with earlier FL2's where 'bypass' relay boxes were installed with cheaper looms that didn't require programming, then it was a case of if you had ANY electrical problems the dealer would blame that.

I'd have the genuine electrics fitted, the Towbar I would not touch the LR Detachable, or the Thule one, it's the same, if it's fitted correctly what part of the warranty could be invalidated Question Overtightning a bolt a stripping a thread that's about it Neutral
