Brought my wing mirrors home today to try fit them to my new FL2 wingmirrors

Are they okay to put on the top with the car having Colour coded mirror caps

Don't want to scratch to caps trying so thought seek advice first Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

The Pads on the Milenco's are rubber, as long as the area that you clamp to is clean and grips well it should be ok

I've used them on my car and they have never left any marks

To answer my own question

No they don't fit okay, the shape of the black surround just causes the clamps to slide off with very little resitance not risking towing with lose fitting mirror

I've used the Aero mirrors with standard pads on my current FL2 and the previous one for five years with no problems. Just make sure the clamps are tight, give it a wiggle to check. They have never left any marks.

I use the v pads with grand aeros on my freelander (Gs with design pack- colour coded mirrors)r, been ok for last 12 months.

I use V pads also, tightened up as much as I could and they still slipped off

Never had issues with my my10 fl2

Strange that I also use the 'V' pads and have the same mirror surround, were rock solid with just over 3000 miles around France at speeds up to 70 mph. Maybe you have more polish on your mirror surround than me

Were the mud is thicker, and the ruts are deeper.
(And we have the water to wash it off, and more on the way..! )

Ordered my V pads at 14:40 yesterday from Blackmore Leisure on ebay and they arrived in the post this morning.

I had towed 16406 miles with the original pads and only had a slight wobble once on the French autoroute. OK after Mrs I tightened the screws. GONE - '07 TD4 GS manual Zermatt Silver

The v clamps can be fitted in two different ways, the obvious option is to let the v clamp overhang the edge of the mirror if that makes sense, i did this and they kept slipping off, i then had to put insulation tape around the clamp base to keep them secured. after a few uses i realised that you need to push the mirrors further on so that more of the rubber is in contact with the car mirror. This probably makes no sense at all so i will take a picture later to show you how i fit mine now.

I just use the standard clamp and have had no problems. Except when a Frenchman stepped into the road in that Gallic manner smoking a fag, having exited his car, walked round the front of it and then ambled back into the road as I passed and knocked off the nearside one with his elbow. No damage to either car or mirror, he advised by gesticulation I had damaged his elbow, I gave a Gallic shrug. OH picked up the mirror and we continued. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
