The plastic was wiped down of cheapo dealership silcone coating and the v clamps fitted as per the second picture above and were perfect

"Suck it see" type of towing mirrors no clamps or straps to scratch paint, plastic etc and can be adjusted electrically with the mirror. Towed thousands of miles in all conditions and speeds, never had one come off (they have a safety strap anyway) highly recommended.

No clamps or straps to scratch paint.

Grand Aeros, no straps just clamps, don't put them on a dirty mirror then you want do any damage.

Suck it and See, again don't put them on a dirty mirror glass else they can scratch, oh and they are so confident that they have a bit of cord as they could fall off I suppose and in doing so do a few bobs worth of damage to the door.

Ten years with Grand Aeros, not lost one yet and that's without the safety cord Whistle p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

Wouldn't trust 'suckit and see' on my mirrors, the glass is only a push fit and didn't take much to remove and replace a broken one. Grand Aeros with 'V' clamps are the dogs b******s.

Hi folks. I'm looking at buying some towing mirrors and wondered whether the MGA's interfere at all with the automatic folding mechanism of the Freelander 2? I'm assuming that they don't since plenty of folk here use them but just checking? Any advice?

Thank you
Mark

I had them on rrsport which has similar mirrors and provided fixed to top no problem. Others suggested fitting to bottom but this didn't work and fouled folding Thumbs Up Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Thanks for the advice folks. I bought some grand aeros and v pads. Haven't done a test drive yet but fitted them on following Wurzel's advice and they look sturdy. I found I had to have the clamps quite close together, given the shape of the car mirror, so that the maximum amount of v pad was gripping the mirror. Do others find they have to do the same?

Some people 'bend' the milenco armes to match the curve of the FL2 mirror. Helps with fitting the clamps fully square to and fully on the mirror housing. It would also allow wider spacing.

I have Milenco mirrors (teardrop shaped) for which I bought V pads. On my MY10 car I went back to the flat pads and haven't yet tried either on the current car. I have a really grippy circle of soft thin rubber for opening jar lids - I may cut pieces out to fit between pad & painted surface of the mirror housing.

I saw today a German registered FL2 with extension mirrors, looked better that the Milenco for fitting on the Mirror Head, tubular brackets hooking over the edge of the mirror head, two on the top, two on the bottom, never seen anything like them over here before. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior
