United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Baltic Blue

True to form, and with 18 minutes to spare, UPS have delivered it to my door. The driver advised that he has 78 deliveries left to make of these today alone, and he's on double bubble after 12 Noon, so is going to stay out all day/night and make hay...

First impressions are that its as light as a feather compared to the 4, but its on charge just now and awaiting 3 to activate the SIM, so I'm off to the Pub. Will update with my thoughts as and when its up and running...

 Foraging near Gaydon....

I'm interested too in the sizes, I fancy the 6+ but also want something that slips in my pocket comfortably.

I've got my 6 coming next week but just got home from Bluewater and I looked at the 6+. Fooking huge! Prob alright for a woman as it can go in a handbag but I think too big and thin for a mans pocket, will probably bend like a banana. Whistle

Just a 6, 64Gb. It's a huge step up from my trusty 4 year old 32Gb iphone 4 mind you! Great display, and does everything you would expect (including connecting to my Freelander seamlessly...) Foraging near Gaydon....

Steve,

Get on the UPS website, key in your tracking number and simply click on 'amend delivery'. Then put in an address that someone will be in to sign for it, i.e. Work. Simples!! Foraging near Gaydon....

Now retired but worked in computers all my life. I can recall in 1975 sitting through a training course on a new range of mainframes and the phrase "it's got 32 bit addressing which means that it will support up to 2 Gbytes of memory which is vastly more than anyone will ever need" we all went "wow".

The systems cost in excess of £4m picture attached. Note that this is just the end of it, the cabinets filed the entire room.

Surprisingly the basic architecture of the systems has barely changed since then, they just got smaller and faster.

You're not an ex- FORTRAN/COBOL programmer by any chance are you?

I can recall the launch of the 386 with no maths co-processor....it could run Lotus Notes (just!), and was, according to Big Blue, all you would ever need for the next 10 years. Pity it couldn't cope with Excel.... Whistle Foraging near Gaydon....

Have done Fortran, Cobol, Algol68 etc. Did you know that the most common code in use is still Fortran and Cobol in legacy systems (especially banks) that people are frightened to touch because the code writers are all long gone?

There's still a few of us around who had to learn Cobol in 1999 "just in case".

I bet they didn't allow for a date change in 9999/10000 AD either. That could be a moneyspinner too, and just think, you will be in your vintage driverless Freelander 15 by then (the last one that had wheels) trying to pair your iphone 50 brain implant.

Well I've gone and done the deal online. Just ordered a 64GB iPhone Plus in white & silver direct from O2 as an upgrade. 6 - 7 weeks from 19/09 is what they advise but it may turn up sooner. Called into a store to look at one today and yes it is massive but extremely light and I really liked it so just going to play the waiting game now... LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Thanks. Just looked at that. According to the UPS web site, I can only amend the delivery address from the second delivery attempt onwards. The original delivery address can only be amended by the sender. Wifey will be in between 1.00 and 4.00 and I'll be in from 4.30 onwards. If I miss it tomorrow I'll either collect it from the depot in the evening or get it redeliveried on Tuesday.
