Towing Electrics

Afternoon all. I've done a search on the forum but can't find an answer.
I've just fitting a towbar and electrics to the wife's 07 Freelander. Both second hand but genuine LR items. Got my local indi to plug his laptop in and tell the ecu a towbar was fitted but now the parking sensors don't work. This is with and without a trailer connected. The trailer lights don't work either...
The only clue anything was wrong was the electric kit came with a bracket to fit 09 model year onward. Does anyone know if it's only the bracket that changes or have I bought the wrong towing electrics kit?
Any advice much appriciated as I'll get in trouble from the wife if I don't sort it soon!
Cheers,

Will check the fuses tomorrow.
Got the instructions from Topix which was rather handy. Thanks anyway.

Fixed towbar

Hi, first time post long time reader:-)
I have the following fixed tow bar LR007479 but the electric brackets have started to corrode (the electrics are all good) so require replacing. I require both left & right hand side brackets. LR have said that I require the whole electrics kit VPLFT0017 to obtain the brackets required £100. Surely, someone out there may have done a DIY on alternative brackets so would like to hear what was done to replace the corroded brackets.
