2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Manual Lago Grey

My Diff has just been repaired on my 2010 Freelander2 at 22000 miles!!!! and 2 weeks out of warranty. Of course it was on its way out before then but I did not notice and Land Rover dealers seemed not to notice either??Despite it being serviced two weeks previously(inside the warranty period).
LR initially offered 25% of the repair cost. Ha Ha. They obviously think that it it is quite acceptable to have a rear differential on a luxury end car to fail after such a short time even though a normal car differential would last at least 100,000 miles if not 200,000 with no problem.
Anyway after contacting LR customer service they upped the offer to 75%. Still not acceptable I said. Finally after more negotiation they agreed to a 100% payment.
It has really dented my confidence in LR as they have a major manufacturing fault with the diff on thousands of Freelander2 cars and seem very reluctant to do anything about it. In fact making every attempt to pay as little as possible.
The moral of the story is to keep the pressure on LR customer service and you should get a good result.

Land Rover don't make the diff, Haldex do, Haldex have a problem?
Does anyone have experience of Haldex problems with other marques using the same Haldex unit, is it a Haldex issue or is it really LR who don't apply the technology correctly.

Mine was changed a few weeks back, I now have this vibration on the rear, going to try a wheel balance first and see if that does anything, the near side rear has a sticky pad with no weight attached so it may have thrown one.

after wrongly diagnosing and fitting a new rear wheel bearing i am having a new diff fitted under warranty(dealer reckons it £1900 supply and fit)hope no more issues arise.

Update:

Dealer has called today and informed us that LR will pay 75% of the rear diff bearings replacement cost - and as a goodwill gesture they will pay the remaining 25%!!! Smile - result!!!!!! This was with no haggling either, straight up front offer.

Totally delighted with the response and attitude from dealer - Stratstone Solihull.
Owing to bank holiday, it wont be done until Tuesday but not a problem. Just hope there are no other serious problems to follow as confidence was knocked a bit initially with the LR brand following this incident and a few other problems but all have been successfully addressed; its our first one.

Still think the car is brilliant though and owing to dealer - confidence now restored.

Had the wheels balanced today, vibration has now gone, the offside rear wheel needed a whopping 115g of weights to sort it, that was after they tried rotating it too.

Better service than evans halshaw,mines been in since last wednesday(14th)and will not be ready until wednesday 28th.and a stupid little pug 208 loan car for two weeks. Big Cry
