After reading this I thought it was worth a go on my 2012.

I obtained a 76cm strap from Halfrauds for £5.69 and attached one end to the battery and the other to the Auto gear box.

Thumbs Up

How did you get the cable out of the battery compartment - I just tried to fit this today and can't find anyway through without drilling a hole Sad

Also - don't suppose you remember what size bolt you used to attach it to the gearbox?

The engine end of the auxiliary earth cable should be connected at one of the three starter motor bolts and NOT the gearbox!!!!

Re starter motor bolts.... I'm having a new condenser soon so I'll have the front off - Do these need to be a tensioned setting or just tight with a spanner ?

Also can I ask what may seem a simple question - where is the starter ? I know what it looks like just cant find it ( Trying to work out what length of cable I need )

Link below shows the location of the starter motor. The three bolts are on the crescent-shaped part at the front. Torque setting is 40Nm.

Edit - found - 3ft should do the job & I should not need to wait for the front to come off to access Smile Terran

Hi Stonrow; your meter reading will be a static reading whereas the amps eater is the starter motor and eats current dynamically for those few seconds as the starter works. Given that the starter fixing bolts exist its my choice to bolt the extra earth directly.
