Hi people
I had an intermittent problem with my petrol cap cover not opening
I got to the petrol station and no matter what I couldn’t get it open so ended up snapping the black plastic locking mechanism
Does anyone know how to replace it and if it’s a job I can do or is it a garage job?

Does the boot still unlock? If not it's likely a fuse, as the same fuse is used to power the boot module and fuel flap.
It's easy to replace the flap lock actuator, you only need remove the arch liner panel to get at it.  2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.

I shall look at the actuator but my problem is I’ve snapped the plastic mechanism that holds the cover in place so I was wondering if I could replace that and how hard it would be

The lock pin can be replaced, but only as part of a whole filler neck top assembly, which comes with the locking assembly, actuator, and flap hinge.
You will find the actuator and lock assembly behind the wheel arch liner.
Order the part LR006363 (about £70) before pulling the liner out (it'll be dirty), so you don't need to pull mucky liner out twice.  2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.
