England 2009 Freelander 2 TD4_e HSE Manual Galway Green

Last Saturday I collected my Stornaway Grey XS - TD4 and have managed 36.1 MPG over the first 350 miles on mainly rural roads with some dual carriageway.

This should improve in the warmer weather when the engine has loosened-up.

Really pleased with the car, no complaints Very Happy

At present, by the on-board computer. I may cross check the accuracy on my next fill-up.

David, if you press the button (i) on the end of the l/h indicator stalk it will cycle through a number of measurements which are displayed on the dash panel which also shows the outside temperature.

For example, average MPG, average speed, miles left until tank empty, etc.

It may not be a feature on the basic model and I believe some or all of the info is shown on the SatNav display where fitted (not sure about that).

My dealer was pretty good in that he spent nearly an hour describing all the 'features' before turning me loose with the new car.

It is explained in the manual too

Wink

John

early days ....

Car was delivered with a full tank of fuel (not). As soon as I drove away from the dealer's premises I realized there was room in the tank for a few more litres, so I topped it up straight away (with 15 litres) to give me a reliable starting point.

The first 350 miles was mainly around town but included a few miles off-road and some playing in the snow, filled it up and the computer indicated 32.2mpg; top up fuel to miles driven gave me a calculated 32.3mpg. So a) pleased with the figure and b) pleased that computer and actual were so close.

Just returned from first 'business use' today, a round trip of nearly 400 miles and the computer indicates 38.3mpg, this trip was 70% m-way and 20% A road and 10% stuck in traffic, cruising at legal limits where ever possible. I'm very happy with this !!!

Anyone know what the quoted mpg is for the TD4 Auto? I am wanting to order a FL2 but fancy waiting for the Auto if the economy is close to manual.

getting better?

I've filled up a number of times now and the computer figures compare well with 'top up to top up' calculations.

I've started to reset the computer at the start of different journies, just for the heck of it. Today I've completed two journies making a 110 miles round trip of mainly A roads and dual carriageways. Checked the computer and found I'd averaged 44.1mph and acheived 44.9mpg ... and kept up with traffic all the way. So that's either very good or the computer is developing a fault !! Car has now covered 2,300 miles.

good range ....

The past week has seen a mixture of journeys (but no motorways) and I've used a full tank. Just filled up, after 559 miles, with 69 litres of Tescos best, which calculates to 36.9 mpg; I'm very pleased with that.
