Dates that are options are as follows, I will ask Nick to add a poll and we will take it from there.

Saturday 29th September

or

Saturday 13th October

Two options to consider on these dates:

A motor tour over the passes, Wrynose, Hardknott and Honister, a round trip of some 80 miles, stopping for pics as and when or Drive to a location and use legs Shocked to walk around a lake to get some pics, possibly Rydal Water as its easy and picturesque.

Either way we would meet around 10:30 in Ambleside (or therabouts) and venture out, possibly on the route shown, although this is just an idea, if you want a detour to a particular spot we can do that.

Taz, it was mentioned 'Whitehaven' earlier, is this not in the venue now? and has the stopover on the Friday or Saturday been cancelled now? making it like an all in one day job.

Hi EY, stopover can still be done, this is just an idea for dates, I would more than likely stopover even though I am local, have a few beers and chew the cud
For those who dont want to stop Whitehaven is a fair way for them, Ambleside for a meet up is pretty easy and there are loads of hotels, B&B's etc. This place is very nice http://www.gilpinlodge.co.uk/ afternoon teas a real treat with butler service.

Somewhere like this may be better and we all get brekky too http://www.golakes.co.uk/accommodation/Win...&sid=3 It may also give us an option to car share unless everyone wants to drive seperately? I am sure somewhere like this would allow us to leave the cars for the day, as long as we behave Laughing

poll added, either dates included too

When we decided a date, the sign up can be altered, and i think the poll can be altered to see if we want a static single location, or drive about

I think i can do either date, just some checking to be done first and I should be able to have a stop over too

part of me wants to sit in my car and drive around, but then i like the idea of walk around (or partly around as im not that fit) of a lake or up a mountain (hill) to take a few photos

What sort of kit is recommend for these types of meets thinking about getting a ND filter and a tripod as some results ive seen are fantastic on long exposure day time shots

I wouldn't buy any kit for the day, I have tripod filters etc that you are welcome to try, the tripod will fit any SLR, filters if we dont have the correct thread can be taped in place temporarily Thumbs Up

I would be more keen on a walk too, this one could be done, then lunch in town, drive over the passes in the afternoon, what are peoples thoughts on a stayover Friday or Saturday night?

If you want a long exposure the best thing is a 10 stop filter, they are a fortune though.
I have a piece of welding glass with a filter thread attached, does a good job and the colour cast can be editied out in PS.

thinking 10 stop, but a cheapo variable one for starters to see if anything comes

stop over might be better Saturday night, early set off to meet Saturday morning, shoot through day, sunsets and if we find a spot that someone thinks a sunrise would be good then there that too Sunday morning, if your heads not hurting from a few cheeky beers later that night

To those interested

Can you add your preference to the POLL at the top of the pay to say which date you would prefer, then we can get rooms booked if stopping over Thumbs Up

Sorry I accidentally deleted the poll Embarassed , but it was 6 for either date and I think 1 for 13th October 2012

So I think it's safer to say the 13th i the chosen day Question

If people could cancel their sign up and then resign up and add their name to their preferred day, either a walk round a lake/up hill or the scenic drive suggested by Paul (Taz)

I'm happy to do the drive as I'm suffering with Achilles tenden pain at the moment from slipping of a log when out walking

If I'm better then a walk and a bit of drive to a couple or so locations
