I enquired about this. It includes the sat nav and they won't sell the kit separately.
I'd love to know how they fix the sat nav in place.

Garmin looks a good fit , but 3 times the price of the Tomtom and a smaller screen . I know the garmin kit has external speaker but not had a problem with Tomtom sound. I wonder if it's as easy as tom-tom to update.

Personally I prefer the TomTom UI. Garmin always looks a little too 90s to me

Ive been compiling an install guide from this post so I can get together all the bits needed. Looks really easy so I think I'm gonna fit one in mine... 2012 DISCOVERY 4 GS AUTO ORKNEY GREY

Okeydoke, here is what I compiled from all the posts from kitchener, donny, taztastic and others into one handy guide.

This is written for the particular installation that I will carry out. There are some variations such as switches and so forth that have been mentioned...

Tools

T20 Torx Keys or Short Screwdriver
http://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/e11400.m1842...AGB%3A3160
Plastic Lever / Protected wide flat blade screwdriver (for panel removal)

Instructions

Fitting the TomTom Unit

Go to the speaker looking panel on the dash above the cubby - using a plastic lever (or a covered/protected wide flat blade screwdriver - so you don't mark the interior) - start at the top (near the windscreen) just off centre and carefully lever the panel up (there is a clip top dead centre) - then work your way gently either side (the are two more clips - one either side about half way down).

Once all three clips are popped then the panel will lift off - move it up and slightly towards the windscreen to remove.

Next remove the daft little bobbly rubber tray below the cubby.

Put your fingernail down the top lip of it slightly off centre and lever it forward. Then gently pull it up from the top whilst pushing it slightly back.

You can now see six Torx screws - four at the top and two behind where the bobbly panel was - remove them all using T20 screwdriver.

Take hold of the top of the cubby/radio surround panel and start to ease it forward. It is a fairly big panel, one piece that goes all the way down to the the terrain response knob area but pops off fairly easily with just a bit of pulling pressure. Once the four or so clips have released then the panel will come free.

Reach behind it and disconnect the multiplug behind the hazard switch area. The panel and cubby are now free to remove from the dash.

Lay the panel face down, fitted the double sided tape around the old cubby opening, then pressed on the TomTom and connected its USB lead.

Refitting the Trim Panel

Offer panel back up, reconnect multiplug, push panel back into place so all clips click.

Route USB cable through to glovebox and (in my case) connect to iPod kit USB port.

Refit Torx screws (only four because cubby is not going back in).

Pop bobbly rubber shelf back on. Then tuck in/press top panel back on until all three clips click in.

Fitting the Electrics

This is fitted in position F5 which is ignition switched, make sure the blade is the right way round, so that in the event of a fault it will blow.

It also can be removed quickly and has not broken into any wiring or upset any potential warranty claim.

The earth was taken by placing a crimped ring on the negative wire and bolted to a chassis point behind the glove box.

On the other end of this lead is a flying cigar lighter type socket, Maplin have them, this is shown in the Picture with the TomTom USB charger inserted and the nav plugged in, this allows a laptop to be connected for updates to the Nav.

A surface mount socket can be fixed in place to get rid of the flying leads.

The only thing i would add to the above guide is add a memory micro card if you want to install Euromaps . If your feeling brave I used an nail emery /polish board and filed away Tomtom logo and gave bezel a matt dash finish .

Just to let you know, the Tesco link is broken for me. It seems to be a redirect from a advert which has expired. (I think) Never tell me the odds.

Bizzare! Same thing happening here, so I have stripped it back to the basic page URL rather than the one I copied out of my browser...

Still didn't work, so I have now removed the URL tag. Looks like the forum automatically puts an affiliate link on urls we paste here. Confused

Maybe we have discovered a secret funding program built into the forum?! 2012 DISCOVERY 4 GS AUTO ORKNEY GREY
