Well, maybe they now work a bit better : "Diesel-powered Freelanders with manual gearboxes have always featured a dual mass flywheel to ensure engine refinement at start, stop and low speeds. A new Polyetheretherketone friction control plate has been developed for the Freelander TD4_e. This is able to withstand seven times the pressure of the outgoing plate, to ensure greater levels of refinement under even greater start and stop demands." Time will tell ...... The map is not the territory 2011 TD4 GS Manual - Gone 2014 SD4 XS Auto - Gone 2018 Jaguar E-Pace R-Dynamic 180 AWD |

I hope your right, but they have had years and years developing auto boxes so the reliabilty should now be built into autos instead of relying on some new fangled plastic plate. someone once sold me a forklift truck with fancy plastic last forever bushes....... he lied At work At home "I can't always believe facts I read on the web" - Charles Dickens winner by default of the tractor vs caravan race |

PEEK is a very hard material, the only problem with it is that it goes soft as the temperature rises. And before any of you scientists out ther try to shoot me down, we use it in the oil industry ______________________ 2011 Full Fat RR 4.4 TDV8 2012 FL2 SD4 Auto HSE 2013 Kawasaki Versys 650 |

PEEK does get softer slowly above around 145 c (its semi crystaline) but with a melt temp of 350 c it would need to get pretty hot before it had a significant issue, also its got very good slip properties just don't put hot benzene on it!

Forgot to say I have to go for manual due to the CO2 and car tax issues and the company look at the mpg as well , so can Landrover make an Auto with lower CO2 and better MPG along the lines of Audi Multitronic?

Just read in a magazine that Ferrai is no longer selling manual cars, just their dual clutch auto. |

I think an auto would compliment the car nicely however I prefer to be in control of the gears plus the manual was cheaper we're not made of money lol! well some of us are but not me!! |
