Never saw any snow until this morning at home, was on Paisley Tuesday night, he'll of a trip up, the nearside tyres will do another 300 miles more than the offside after the fun with the wind, the top of Shap was a bit scary and the section of the M74 at Metal Bridge was a bit hairy. Aberdeen was clear also.

I was a day behind you, freely much better than Merc was in crosswinds.

Agreed about heated windscreen and PTC heater but why is it that only the front washer jets are heated?

Heated jets require just two wires, one to 0 volts and the other ign. They are self thermostactically controlled.

It is annoying. For those owners who decide to splash out for a HSE you would think that for all that cash you would get a heated rear jet as well even if the lower specced models go without. A blanket exclusion seems harsh from LR. I wonder if it is a feature on Disco 4, RRS or FFRR. Perhaps CG can comment on that. You wont get heated rear jet now or in the future on FL2 because of tooling changes needed for the CHMSL. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice. |

Never had the rear jet freeze, maybe because the jet is enclosed in the rear brake light, it gets a bit of protection, even getting a bit of heat from the lamp as opposed to the fronts sat on the bonnet with an exposed nipple have in the cold air constantly over it, so rather it being a case of penny pinching have they not fitted it because there is no need for it |

For me it hasto be the auto, I think it suits the car better. As for the "I like to be in control" camp you have to ask why the LR experience only use autos. I have to say the auto box of my 11 plate SD4 is nowhere near as smooth as on my previous TD4, as for fuel economy I cannot get mine to show more than 31mpg, no matter how I drive it.

Last winter when it was seriously cold I used good quality washer fluid neat to ensure the fluid didn't freeze in the pipes. I also reversed the car onto the drive so the rear was close to the house and consequently the rear screen had no frost or ver minimal frost on it. Despite all that, the rear washer jet wouldn't work. Only when I had driven the 16 miles to work did it cough and splutter into life. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Sorry 1stfreelander but I am not bothered about why LR use autos or the percentage of faults on manual. I think the manual suits it better and would never change. If I had to have an auto for medical reasons, then it would be the end of FL2 ownership and time to buy an auto with a dual clutch that hopefully wouldn't have the jerky nature of the FL2 auto. For now I will stick with the slick manual and if the clutch fails tomorrow I will still prefer it to the auto. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Only a manual give the feed back needed to harness the full affects of the patented snow groove.

Boring zzzzz Manual is far superior. Cheaper to run and tax and cheaper to buy and smoother with no jerky kickdown. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby LOT (Lord of Time) - University of Gallifrey |

I can beat crappy boy racers if I want but that's not why I got the FL2. Any decent hot hatch or BMW would destroy the SD4 anyway. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby
