A) some key cutting specialists should be able to "laser cut" blank key. Vauxhall use this type.

B) Very important for insurance purposes, you will need fob and car reprogrammed. Adding a new fob is NOT an option, vehicle ECU fob memory is cleared and original fob reprogrammed then new key added.

Lost fob will no longer start or open car. All FL2's (3) Gone

When I bought first (ex demo) Fl2 in 2008 dealer could not find 2nd fob. A few days later took car to have new one programmed.
Waited over an hour and eventually went into workshop, technician???? informed me new fob working OK but the one I had been using had now developed a fault!!!!!!
He hadn't a clue how to programme the fobs/system. A simple "YES NO" promt on screen was wrongly answered.
When asked "are both keys present" answer NO you then enter programme to erase existing fob memory from ECU and then clean/reprogramme existing key and programme new key. Answer YES is to add an extra key and will only work if you have both originals to prove secutity.

I had (prior to retirement) grown up with and attended all courses on Ford WDS (worldwide diagnostic system), as FL2 was desingned and built under Ford banner the system is basically the same with software to suit LR. All FL2's (3) Gone

Yesterday I spoke to Lloyds in Carlisle and Guy Salmon Stockport, both seem to think that you can add a new key to the existing code but if the lost one turns up that will also work, meaning to cancel the lost key you would need to buy 2 new keys have them coded and have the car recoded too resulting in both original keys, (the lost one and the one remaining key) unusable.

I would love to get to the bottom of this?

My car came with only one key, the second having been lost by previous owner. I bought a remote from LR Wakefield (£105) (ebay); a key blank (£8 ish) through ebay; key was cut by a local "lazer cut" specialist for £10. Stratstone Nottingham programmed both original and new fobs for £50. Job done! 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

08 FL2 TD4 SE Manual in Rimini Red (Now Gone)

You can reprogramme existing key and programme new key but only in conjunction with car reprogramming. Lost key will then NOT work
You can NOT add another key unless both keys (2) are present.
So 1 key lost,
Delete fob memory from car and existing key, reprogramme car and the 2 keys (1 original and 1 new).

This can be done and is written into software for a lost key scenario. Why 2 main dealers say different is beyond me. Do NOT let them con you into buying 2 keys. All FL2's (3) Gone

Junior I think you have been given the wrong information , as far as I am aware if you wish to add a new fob the code in the car is erased and a new code downloaded then the new fob and the original one you have are then coded to the new code in the car's ECU thus only needing to buy 1 new fob, if I'm wrong no doubt someone will come along and put the record straight. Gone, 2007 TD4 SE Auto Baltic blue, clear side repeaters, full sized alloy spare.

I'm hoping this is correct Thumbs Up but there seems to be conflicting arguments flying around.

As I said in my first post when I bought the car there was only 1 fob present, a new one was supplied by my local LR
Dealer who then reprogrammed the car then programmed the original and new fob to the new code thus rendering the missing fob useless as it would neither open nor start the car after reprogramming the car. Gone, 2007 TD4 SE Auto Baltic blue, clear side repeaters, full sized alloy spare.
