DO YOU IF...

Headlamp Washers
Q: Does anyone know if the body (cover) of the headlamp washer detaches from its inner workings i.e., the nozzles and tube housing?

I ask because the MY2011 bumper delivered yesterday has standard black headlamp washers fitted. The bumper has to be re-sprayed to match her Laydship's FL2's Ipanema Sand body colour.

So the options are: buy a new set of pre-colour coded headlamp washers (most expensive option) or re-spray existing std black units in Ipanema Sand - but this latter option only works if the inner workings can be removed and reinserted without damage. Does anyone know?

Mr Pinks - have sent this morning a mail to "The Fat One" as he's already processing an order for me for this project. I'm interested in how expensive these may prove to be from LR. But, still interested in knowing if the innards can be removed?

This is how the front bumper should end up looking in Ipanema Sand - official LR Press Publicity Photo.

Thank's for the heads-up but, that's black standard ones. I'm interested in the price of colour coded ones.

Toeknee - that's very interesting - I'll alert my garage that it is understood that they can be stripped.

Can anyone else confirm this?

Basically all you need to do is remove the two metal spring retaining clips and then push and twist to remove the washers from the front of the bumper, the rubber hose just pulls off. They also removed the Parking sensors on mine, not sure if you can paint them

Removing the washer units off the bumper is not the problem - the issue is if you re-spray them as they are there's a small chance that the washer gets blocked/clogged with paint.

So although it is possible to mask off the nozzles etc., to be absolutely safe it would be best to remove these inner working parts - if possible.

Yes - parking sensors can remain in situ and over sprayed - no problem. Headlamp washers are the area at risk.

If you have time, and if no-one can answer categorically, you could always buy a cheap spare off flea bay and see if you can take it to pieces - unless someone already has an old one they can experiment on?

A grand idea Calcul@tor Thumbs Up
But unfortunately I don't have a spare one to experiment on. Does anyone here have one to examine?
