Ian,

Did you manage to connect the two bits of hose directly together (with an inline hose connector) or did you have to use a short length of hose to 'plug the gap' between the two?

Thanks guys, great spot. It's definitely from the swirl flaps.

Also found another thread which describes finding an "8cm bronze bar" in the intercooler pipe - snap!

Does anyone know what this bit of brass is? I found it inside the air hose just before the Throttle Body valve.

There was plenty of coolant still in the system sitting under the oil, so the coolant hadn't really leaked out before the oil started being pushed through the pressure release valve in the e ...

It's a bit different to that on the diesel. Its LR part number LR006653:

Ah, ok, but even so wouldn't the the oil cooler & filter housing still needs to come out to replace that seal which means disconnecting the hoses into the top of the cooler?
