... but is it Cricket?

Can someone, please, put my mind at ease and confirm that the standard radio/cd on the MY2011 still has AM tuning?

The cricket broadcasts, on Radio 4 LW, are my only link to civilisation...

Sorry to bring bad news --- nope, you can't get LW 200m Radio 4! Mad

That was the first thing I checked when I got my FL2. The FL1 radio was brilliant for that (well, the one I had was) ... even had SW. Freelander 1 TD4 HSE - gone, 2 weeks after the Cat.Converter!

I'll wait whilst you go out and check... Anytime... Wink

Seriously, I'm sure that you will have it on your car. I'm looking at buying a new Freely, in the not too distant, but (because you no longer have a slot in the dashboard to slide in your own choice of ICE hardware) I need to check if AM/FM radios are still available on new builds.

Online photos, from last September, are slightly different from some more recent ones, I've seen, which have a little "sharks fin" aerial, on the roof, presumably for DAB? Or am I confusing it with the phone aerial?

Does anyone know if DAB is now your only choice, on all models?

You'd think so, wouldn't you?

Regrettably, LW (Long Wave) Radio has that name for a very good reason. I think I'm right in saying that FM(VHF), DAB, and the like are "line of sight" reception whereas you can tune into LW and SW (AM signals) from much further away - in my case, overseas.

You'd be surprised how many ex-pats tune in.

According to the manual...... Whistle

To select the AM waveband, press and release
the AM button. The selection will be shown in
the top left-hand corner of the information
display. On standard audio units, repeated
presses of the AM button will scroll through
MW1, MWa, LW1 and LWa.

It does say standard audio, not premium though

I agree with the above. Her Ladyship's MY2010 "Newport" has the premium audio kit and that has DAB, FM and AM. Proceed as NM and T have posted.

I live here in Switzerland (mainly) and I am currently watching live on ITV 4 (thanks to Swisscom providing the cable link) the Indian DFL All Stars League. Not cricket as the white cliffs of Dover but terrific entertainment. I couldn't live anywhere in the world where I would be unable to get live cricket or rugby broadcasts. As an added bonus I get the Boat Race live as well. To make my life complete all I need is a decent local pub serving "proper" English beer. Her Ladyship suggests that i open my own boozer - I pointed out the obvious problem of getting cask conditioned ale here.

Oooh - I need to go and check now. I've only had the car 7 weeks and had no need to listen to the shipping forecast... well, you wouldn't living in The Fens!

I suppose if I'd got it in the summer months my need would've become more desperate Shocked

I got my radio replaced under warranty in Jan and I can happily get TMS on 198! The drive into France in Sep will be a little better knowing that Radio 4 stretches a little further inland now.
