United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Stornoway Grey
New SD4

Picked up my SD4 HSE today, traded in a BMW E39 525d Sport Auto. The BMW, whilst fun to drive, was fidgety, harsh and at times downright uncomfortable, and poor in snow, so wanted something a little more relaxing and comfortable to drive, but with decent inclement weather ability. I was originally looking at Volvo and Honda, and perhaps Lexus, having discounted the Freelander on price and reliability. However after some research and a test drive I was sold.

It's an HSE, Stornoway Grey, Ebony leather and piano black trim. It is supposed to also have a detachable towbar and body side mouldings, but these apparently didn't arrive in time to be fitted - so will be done later.

Overall very happy with the vehicle, but not driven her too far today - we have been moving house and I'm exhausted so didn't want to risk a knock so early on.

Bought from Stratstone Burnham in Berks - dealer experience was average, I felt I bought the car rather than it being sold to me and was a little disappointed in some aspects of service at times, but will probably use it for first service and see.

Thanks for the generous comments. Spent some more time driving it today, needed to finish off moving some small pieces of furniture, not a hope in the BMW, but still had to leave the boot open a touch and tied down. Should have bought the Honda Very Happy

Very easy car to drive, steering is very much lighter than the beemer, but am getting used to it.

I do in fact, but not for that purpose. A combination of being tall, 6'4" and perspective I think. I hadn't really appreciated how it looked until you all pointed it out. Smile

I read in one of the reviews that tall people would find headroom a problem, I can't say I do, never really given it a thought, maybe I have the seat very low (or I should close the sunroof Laughing )

SimonB - I think they sold you the vehicle I ordered many months ago. No wonder it takes so long to get one down-under - they keep selling them to the locals! Nice bit of kit anyway.
