Auto Express - Evoque Preview

Auto Express has had a passenger ride in the new Evoque and think its the best thing since sliced bread, not a single bad word to say about it.

On the other hand of the 8 photos of the car 7 of them are frontal (which is the cars best bit), just 1 of the rear (which is the cars worst bit) and ZERO of the side which I find strange as this would show the cars coupe like appearance.

I can see the evoque replacing the upper range FL2's. The FL2 will be in the low 20's then the evoque in the low 30's, disco 40's and then onto the RR. I think this is why the FL2 was not given much of a makeover, except the engine which was they had to do for the evoque. Had they given the FL2 the evoque interior, which is similar to the disco it would have taken sales from the evoque. I wll wait until I see one in the flesh but it looks like someone has trodden on the roof and squashed it. One of the best features of the FL2 is the huge glass area.

Autocar also has a similar review, with interior shots, I see they have done away with a gear lever and relapced it with a twist dial as fitted to Jags and RR.

I'm not sure I personally like the look of the rear. Looks like something has fallen on it. For a free country, it does seem pretty expensive these days.

Its like everything, you just get used to it time, the other manufacturers follow suit and probably come 5 years time the FL2 will look like its just come off the ark. I was only wrong once and thats when I thought I was but wasnt.

Collected one for my company a couple of weeks before it was announced, and the first impression was the same as it was after the last one was crushed - YUK Twisted Evil 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

No, it was a rounded piece of rubbish and totally unreliable. I remember we had an Austin Cambridge Estate and our first car was a Morris Minor in Airforce blue with flip up side indicators. Reg. No. 5JMN, purchased in 1963 from Lookers surprisingly. Never been back! Laughing
