Sofa/electric recliner repairs

As title really anybody know a good one in Leeds area?

My 2 year old DFS electric recliner motor went and broke last night, the motor works but it's the mechanism that slides back and forth that's broke off the spindle

DFS have said the 2year warranty on this ran out sept last year, which funnily enough is when the chair started to get more use at the new house Evil or Very Mad I have sourced the manufacture of the motor and it looks straight foward swap, but they have the opinion that it's normally something else that causes them to break like a bent frame so notvdure if I want to DIY it Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

3 x Kids used my Ekorness ones as a trampoline. One of the spring fittings departed company, but zips on the bottom lining gave access to the inners. Couple of bolts later, it was dismantelled into two arms, a back and a seat. I could then effect the repair myself, strengthen it with some ironmongery and bobs your uncle. The Scandanavians have sofas down to a fine art and they never go out of fashion. So my advice, DIY.

The new motor Is £70 plus the stupidly high VAT , the independent repair wants £195 to do same job Shocked

Going to give DFS guy who is coming to look at it a go on Friday to see if any of the frame is bent, freequote on repair, if not then it's DIY Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Yep, get the motor at 70 plus the highwaymans VAT, then DIY. Most of the time you find you'd do a better job thasn the tradesmen.

Hey, even I've been looking at moving abroad. FYI Ireland might have a banking crises, but their houses are really cheap just now and they dont have George (Never Had A Job Before and where Klosters) Osbourne, Drippy Clegg or the rest of the hangers on!
