Fortunately i left the handbake off so managed to push it into the sun.

I wasn't aware of that. I thought I read in the handbook that they activated with the heated windscreen like the heated mirrors activate with the heated rear screen.

I thought that might be the case but when operate the washers fluid comes out of all the jets including the headlight. It could be that there is a split in the tube which is small enough to allow them to work but large enough to leak.

I would normally have 50/50 in but the reservoir still had what came from the factory so I don't know what percent they put in. Andyfr

Nope completely independent! I thought it was the case till alex and pegleg pointed out they just have a 12v ignition switch. They turn on inside the jet when cold. hope this helps

You should be able to see the heaters working, mine have a 2" wide circle around each jet that is completely clear of frost, when the rest of the car is frosted over.

I too had the washer fluid leaking from under the front this morning. I have been topping up with neat fluid so it was easy to see the dark blue leakage. Just keeping my fingers crossed it isn't any bad damage.

Update

Just collected it from the dealer, it was a hose which had come off. No charge and they cleaned it inside and out. Andyfr

When it was cold last week, water was coming out of the front ones when I pressed the rear washers. Rears were frozen, but I thought they were separate systems? Indus Silver

The same pump/motor is used for both front and rear washing systems.
The glass that gets sprayed is determined by the rotation direction of the motor and a series of one way valves.
The one way valves have a small ball inside. So until the pressure is build up in order for the ball to seat and block the flow, a small amount of water escapes and you see it on the screen.

Blocked Washer Jet

As I needed to redirect one of my washers,I consulted the Handbook and found that the end of a pin has to be inserted to move the jet to the desired position. Now I have a broken end of pin blocking the jet. Poking from under the bonnet was useless. Anyone got any ideas?

^ Next time your'e at a garage blow some compressed air at a convenient point under the bonnet, with any luck it will dislodge it.

Don't have anyone looking down the jet mind
