Buying used pitfalls??

Just wondering whether there's an older thread that covers this?? I'm looking for a diesel auto GS or XS from 07 / 08. Prices seem to vary considerably, but perhaps there's certain (cheaper) dealers to avoid? Is it really worth investing in the extra for a Land Rover approved vehicle?

And are there any obvious realiability issues to be seriously concerned about. I haven't read about any, but perhaps I've missed something.

Thanks for any advice..

Try to get a used one with a good warranty.

As for pitfalls, they are the same as any other car in honesty, no better, no worse.

I would go for the Land Rover approved form a dealer which will normally come with the full year warranty, Land Rover assist and mot. Just gives you peace of mind.

Don't be seduced by the Land Rover approved status, plenty of people have reported problems including one that had no service history and had never been serviced, Approved just means sold by a landrover dealer they do not some mythical supply of better cars than other sources.
I bought mine from a Garage via ebay and have had no problems whatso ever Thumbs Up

Prices do vary a lot, not just because of the history but because of the different trim levels. Make sure that the one you buy has the features that you want - some models don't have terrain response, cruise control, better radio. And petrol ones will be cheaper of course! Mine was from a dealer, but was cheaper because they had not supplied or serviced it, but the book was stamped up and I got LR warranty and LR Assist, and so far I'm in love with it!.
Have a good trawl through the threads on here. Oh, and make sure it has a spare wheel and jack!

If you test an auto insist on driving for at least 1 hour. Get the car to 50mph hold the speed and find a hill. If there is ANY vibration, can it. The warranty counts for nothing, LR don't acknowledge vibration, it doesn't exsist... Hi Darling, I'll be home in 10 mins. If I'm not back, please read this message again...

Thanks for the tips. Hopefully in the next few weeks we'll be able to find something that suits.
