Gas the pain in my :censored:

Smelt gas at the new property, called British Gas to come out, they advised ring the Gas Emergency help line, so i did

Found a leak with his smelly detector, then turns my Gas off Sad

No heating or hot water or hob to cook on, lucky my repair will be free with my British Gas cover, Neutral

however, the replacement of either the kitchen units or the laminate lounge floor will NOT be covered, both which may have to be removed to get to the offending pipework buried in the concrete floor Big Cry

OK i thought, my house insurers cover trace and access, WRONG, only covered for water leaks Rolling Eyes

So OK i thought, my British Gas covers, over night stays in a hotel, WRONG, they would if my boiler has blown up or an explosion, but not for a gas leak with the whole gas turned off until its repaired

Then to top it all off, the Home Emergency Cover I used to have with my insurance was canceled by my insurers without telling me, as my wife has HEC with her bank account, both of which don't cover the reinstatement of the laminate or cupboards anyway.

You might say I am well and truly Censored OFF right now Exclamation Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Is it a new (<10yr old) house??
If so, as it sounds like a poor 1st fix, do you have any come back on the builder/developer with the the NHBC guarantee?

No its not one if those flimsy new builds, it's a well built 1970's house Laughing

Sounds like the pipe might have either corroded, or been punctured in the past maybe by a carpet grip prior to the previous owners putting down the laminate

Anyway British Gas chap diverted the supply to get the boiler back on, just without a gas fire (we never use) and a hob until they come to do the new pipes, hopefully externally Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Is it not possible to block the pipe under the concrete and use a new pipe that goes in a new route? Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto

I hope so

I think under floor upstairs, out the wall down to the kitchen and lounge as the boiler is upstairs so I presume they'll be able to tap into that Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

You could always burn the laminate while you wait for it to be fixed.......... Sorry.

How come it always happens when the weather gets colder?

I assume that when you moved your mortgage company did a survey before they leant the money? Are you covered on this?

Hope you get it fixed soon!
If not I'm sure me or McP will let you park your van up for the winter!!

I expect your offer will be to late, the CG Ranch will already have made an offer of a long term pitch. Whistle

I used my day off to the full by watching a movie, catching up on a couple of recorded progs and washing the British gas engineers van Laughing after I jetwashed the garage roof to clear it of moss, had to rinse mine too as the spray if muddy moss water went everywhere Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
