I had Continental Contacts and recently changed to Goodyear Wranglers which were slightly cheaper and in my view last longer. There are others on here who have said Contacts last longer than Wranglers so it comes down to personal preferrence and price.

I am just about to replace my front tyres with Goodyear Wranglers. They've lasted 39K miles and still more than 3mm left, so I will replace with exactly the same! Freelander 2 TD4 HSE auto Tonga Green/Alpaca

I also notice how the load rating of FL2 tyres seems to vary

Mine are 108V but some I have seen are 104v 09 Plate Rimini Red Freelander 2 HSE with Roofrails, Side Mouldings, Sidetubes and Privacy Glass

According to specs 108V to 104V is quite a load bearing drop 09 Plate Rimini Red Freelander 2 HSE with Roofrails, Side Mouldings, Sidetubes and Privacy Glass

My Wranglers are on 36000 miles - the front are on 3mm, back on 5mm. I'm going to stick with the brand because I've got a brand new one on the spare wheel, so I only have to buy three.

Interesting answer to your question is here -

https://www.freel2.com/gallery/albums/user...essure.pdf

Quote ’Note: FREELANDER 2 – tire load capacity depends on tire manufacturer.’

So it is 104 or 108 depending on manufacturer for 17 inch tyres. Land Rover use Continental rated at 108 or Goodyear rated at 104.

What happens if you choose a different manufacture? Or a Conti with 104? An excuse for refusing an insurance claim.

The PDF is for the American market, does the same apply in the UK?
