Erasing Phonebook

Anyone know why I cannot erase the phonebook from the car's memory?
I have encountered two seperate problems here:-
on one occasion there was a padlock icon appearing next to various option on the screen in the car and not sure why/or how to release that?
on another occasion there weren't any padlock icons, so able to get to the 'Erase Phonebook' option, but despite saying 'Yes' nothing was deleted!

when you first loaded your phonebook to the car,did it load first time? or did you have several goes at it?
You can add several phones and their phonebooks to the cars memory. You may have just added the same phone more than once. Try scrolling through the list of stored phones which will probably be all the same one and deleate as you go.it will mean reconnecting your phone again for each phonebook you want to deleate.
I know this as its exactly what happend too me. Shocked

Only one phone synced with the car, which I deleted and subsequently re-synced. It seems as if although I removed all phones, the phonebook still remained and without a phone synced, I couldn't get to the phonebook to delete anything!

I may be wrong but I thought that the padlocks came on for some functions when the car is moving? When stationary - total access? it thought it was to make you concentrate on driving by not allowing you to fiddle about with the functions.

While moving you only get to access small range of functions.

Now...... that could all be total b******s!

Thanks, that seems to fit with when the padlock is there and when it isn't!
Shame the handbook doesn't explain that!
