DISCO3/RRSPORT etc back - looks like another database glitch threw the server out for just under 40 minutes |

Is there a permanent solution for this Martin? Or are we gonna have to grin and bear it over here on Freel2 occasionally? |

Now I have no idea how web sites work or are hosted or anything. So what is going on Is it the design of the site the provider or what surely a forum should not Fuk about like the D3 one does. |

I thought I'd got it sorted - it's been up for a week since the last failure without a problem and suddenly it's gone over again |

Andrew - up until ~ 2 months ago the server had been very stable. I fixed the first problem, which solved it until the recent batch of issues, which are highly intermittent and proving difficult to trace. If it was something simple I would have got it fixed, believe me. A major hindrance to fixing the problem is that I can do absolutely no diagnostics when the server has crashed because it completely stops responding, even to the admin stuff, and it's very difficult to find the point at which the server I don't believe it to be a fundamental problem with the forum software as it's not been changed since it was running perfectly - believe me if it was as easy as "oh , shouldn't have changed that" and changing it back then I'd have done it immediately. I'm doing as much as I can to sort this out - I honestly believed that it had been sorted given the week of full stability, but apparently not. Unfortunately I do not have personal physical access to the server or the deep technical knowledge to be able to investigate fully, I am reliant on the server provider to whom I pay a fully managed hosting fee to sort problems out when they occur. I help all I can, and feed back as much information that I get from you guys about issues to them that but I also need some patience from you very nice chaps so I can get it sorted properly. I hate the sites being down even more than you do, please don't think I'm ignoring the issue Last edited by Martin on 15th Aug 2007 8:09 pm. Edited 1 time in total |
