Now with some winter pics -who will be in Scotland in August

I am trying to get together a meet up of the members of all Martin's Forums who will be in Scotland this summer.
Unfortunately we cannot do a visit to LRE Dunkeld as it appears they are no longer opening to private groups with their own cars.
There is a sign-up over on RRSport.co.uk if you are interested at

Not everybody with a towbar has a caravan CG.................... both my Land Rovers have towbars to tow an Ivor Williams trailer. How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?

Great stuff! Been keeping an eye out for a meet in Scotland for a while now. I'll hopefully make it but I'm at sea myself around that time but will know if I'll be back in time, soon!

I attempted a winter run over the route this afternoon - it wasn't a dismal failure and I'm sure with an earlier start and some more cars it would have been a great day out, especially driving the virgin snow on the high section of the Amulree to Kenmore road.........................

The main roads were all clear bur on the A822 through the Sma Glen the track was down to one car width BUT the snow was thawing/ melting quite quickly.

Th locals out demonstrating about all the Land Rovers on the track............. I waited 15 minutes for them to stop their protest before turning round and heading toward the Sma Glen. Driving back down I stopped to chat with a family trying out their new D4's abilities, I wonder if they made it beyond the locals protesting!

As I found they really do mean it too!

Normally you can see the track winding up the side of the far away mountainside, not at the moment

I decided that as I was by myself and it was a bit late in the afternoon to risk trying a crossing to Kenmore I turned round and very nearly got stuck when I dropped a rear wheel into a snowed over ditch.............. GGS, Ice and Snow Tyres, DSC off andf plenty of steering wheel twirling saved the day!

On the way back to Amulree.

The roads are great to drive and are not "off-road" they are all metalled but unclassified through routes - except the road to Loch Turret (it is above the Grouse Whisky Distillery at Crieff) which is a waterboard road that is open to the public.
The summertime photos are on this thread http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic13588.html How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?

Went for a play in the snow over the weekend, I was trying to get to top off Hartside on the A686 just after Alton heading west,
When the snow got to approx 2 foot drifts (60cm) the freelander got stuck the front wheel were well off the ground ?? I tried to get out but the door wouldn't clear the snow . my wife asked if I was happy because I had got the FL2 stuck, yes . To my amazement it drove out backwards with a little wheel spin ?? a lot. Not bad on standard half worn tires. See the pics. If i can down load them Thumbs Up
