As it says, the list is compiled by Warranty Direct, so it will only be dealing with cars more than three years old since newer cars will still be under manufacturers' warranties. Therefore completely meaningless for owners or prospective owners of the FL2.

But as has been said by others the survey takes no account of capability. When we were first looking at a 4x4 we visited the dealer displays at the local county show for a broad overview. A bit of a surprise in that in several cases the staff knew nothing about the cars at all – on the Toyota stand the dealer was very knowledgeable and also very clear that we should not be looking at he Rav4 if we wanted to go off road.

I wouldn't describe the FL1 as a pile of crap as without it the FL2 likely wouldn't have the qedeos that it has. The FL1 was pretty good in it's time given it was developed in the very early 90's from the running gear of an Austin Maestro Van.
I would imagine that most of any reliability issues the refer to on the FL1 will be on the 1.8 K Series as the TD4 & the 2.5 KV-6 were both very good.

I have little doubt that the statistists are molested & as usual not in favour of anything home grown (as usual). (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.
(Past) RR Evoque Dynamic Lux Si4 In Firenze Red.
(Past) RR Evouque Pure Tech in Barollo Black with bespoke Firenze Red colour coding.

2008 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Santorini Black

I must admit I had a FL1 with the td4 engine up until 2008 and it never gave any trouble whatsoever hence my decision for the fl2.

One thing did make me laugh was the kia - i'l show my neighbour this !

I know for sure all them cars look and drive so stick to ur fl2's !
