Having just exchanged my previous care for a Freelander SE I was very annoyed to receive a letter from NHR.
This company had all my information regarding my old vehicle, with the exception of the mileage and wanted me to furnish them with more info, 'acting on behalf of their clients'.
Whist their intentions may be innocent, the way in which they got my details, in my opinion is not.

What is it that makes you think that there is something wrong with the way they got your details?

I'm trying to think back to the last used car change I was involved in ...

Is it not the case that when buying a previously owned car you get to see the prevous keepers details on the V5. If the 'new' owner of your 'old car' had these details is it possible that they have gone to NMR to check the history? Just trying to see if there is a lawful way to explain what has happened.

I am normally Mr Cynical, don't trust anyone in sight, to the extreme. I can't believe I am looking to see the honest side of this ......

Then again maybe I'm just wrong in what I remember in which case I'll join you and become Mr Angry ...

When I sold my FL1 at auction a dealer bought it, then sold it on and the new owner rang me and asked if i had the spare key! (I did have it but i chucked it away cos I got sod all for it at auction)

I received the same letter when I bought my FL2. It just went straight into the shredder

I am afraid to say but thousands of companys have the right to your details off dvla..all they do is pay £2.50 for each car....this how the scammers at these out of town shopping malls try to get people to pay a penalty charge for parking rules....ps never ever pay one of these.....look here for how to deal with these robbers

NMR is run by the same people that run HPI. It is basically there to help against cars being clocked.

If the current mileage was not completed on the V5 then NMr will get intouch to see if you can supply the mileage so that when the vehicle is check they can see the mileage is geniune.

Personally, at a risk of soundingl, i think you are slightly over reacting, i am sure if you were buying a used car you would want to make sure it was ok
