M25closures

Living up here in Scotland and will never be in the M25.
What happens if the diversions direct you within the M25 circle.
Will that bring you into Mr Khan,s ULEZ?
If you got fined would the diversion give you an “out” against the fine.
Just wondering. Mind goes off at a tangent sometimes. Jim A

Here on the M5 Jn18 Avon Bridge Southbound Diversions will take you through the corner of the Bristol Restricted Zone.
This notice states that the automatic 'fine' cameras will be suspended if the diversion is known about and official.
It doesn't seem clear how the diverted motorist is informed of this.
This area of motorway has lots of jams and hold ups, so I am not sure that you could tell which ones were 'Offical' and which one were not!

a while back the M42 was closed diverting traffic at the M6 interchange area onto the M6 Toll. There was no charge, barriers up etc at the first toll booth which is about 2 miles onto the toll road at the A38 Jcn. Guessing this only applied to the 1st booth as it was the most sensible diversionary route.

Would hope that the same common sense would apply for the M25 closure but not sure 'common sense' is in Khan's vocabulary from everything Ive seen/heard.

That's going to be annoying.

We are nipping to Spain through France and the Tunnel tomorrow, so have paid the Dart charge in advance.

By nipping I mean 1,600 miles (2 days) each way. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

The dart charge is the least of your costs for that trip! Central France to Yorkshire and back is £1000 in fuel, tolls, channel tunnel etc. I fly whenever possible, even with airport parking it is around a quarter of the cost, and about half the time door to door.

Pathetic. Sydney, Darwin, Perth, Sydney, 4000km (2485 miles) per leg for the shortest most pointless route.

Australia's 'Longest Shortcut ' Lenora (near Kalgoorlie) to Winton, Queensland, 2700km. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Last July - just a 6 week short tour.

Glarus CH - Hirtshals DK 1400kms - Ship to Iceland - Iceland inland tour 4600kms - Ship to Faroe Isles - Tour 380kms - Ship to Denmark - Hirtshals DK to Glarus CH 1400kms. Total 7,780kms.

Casualties: 3 sets of wiper blades - 1 tyre sidewall ripped by very sharp black lava (eye watering tyre price in Iceland) - 1 D pillar LR oval badge.

Just two of the many many photos taken.

I think that you are missing the point, there is fun in the driving, I fly to the likes of Australia and Africa for a living, flying is not fun.
Cost wise the fuel is around £780, the tunnel £500, tolls £200 - split between the three of us, beats paying for flights and a decent 4x4 hire car.

Did a bit of driving in Australia a few years ago, Sydney to Cairns, but I didn’t try to do it in a couple of days, it’s a similar distance. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Everyone is different and should do what they enjoy. I can see the other point, if on a budget or limited holidays then time and money are a consideration. If someone has the time and the money then enjoy the drive.

I was simply stating that the dart charge is around 0.25% of the cost of my shorter trip. Enjoy your holiday.
