That's an exhaust manifold to head stud. There is also a tubular spacer that goes with it.

Don't wait too long, probably just a bolt-up job but if there's exhaust leaking and it etches the head you might need to replace that, or pull it for machine work. |

Used to be an all too common issue on Td5 Discovery and presumably Defenders which were known to warp their exhaust manifolds and shear studs especially if they were tuned. Mine needed 2 manifolds replacing and was cured with an uprated bolt and spacer kit.

No the Discovery hasnt started making any noises as of yet, , i wish i had a garage where i could get it in and strip the head off, but winters coming up so will have to wait until after winter if i can |
