Cruising speed stutter

I have a 2.2 SD4 HSE Auto. When cruising on a motorway at 130kph (I live in France) I occasionally get a stutter, literally just for a fraction of a second then it passes. I happens more often when it's hot and usually only when very light demand on engine power. It does not appear to happen when the engine is under load or backing off just when cruising. It happens with cruise control and manual throttle. If I slow down to 110 kph it appears to go away.

ANY IDEAS PLEASE?

Try changing the crank position sensor. A stutter while on steady throttle is often a sign that it is failing according to many of the experts on here.

Many thanks, I will look into that. Does a fault of the CPS show up on a diagnostic test?

Not always. I've had 2 which have caused stuttering when cruising, neither showed a code. I've had 2 fail completely, only one gave a code, the other didn't.

Avoid cheap aftermarket sensors, they don't last. And sometimes the pins in the plug spread, giving bad connections, which I believe shortened the life of at least one of my faulty sensors.

I replaced the plug and used a quality sensor, and have been trouble free for over 12 months now. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.

I had to import it from the US. I bought a couple of them as the shipping was more than the parts. Once I took the connector apart, I discovered that the pins can be replaced, and those were available on Ebay in the UK.
I'll dig out the part numbers when I have some spare time. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.

Here's the pins, which can be put into the old connector, as it comes apart easy enough.
