Hello everyone.

I will be changing my egr valve soon and was thinking of blanking it from the egr cooler intake ( see picture ).
Anyone ever done this and will recommend the right blanking kit please?

I have blanked my egr for over 3 years now and I notice it causes build up in the cooler and also has an impact on the egr valve so stoping the exhaust fumes into the cooler will seem like a better approach.

You can prevent the exhaust gasses from entering the cooler by using a blanking plate at the exhaust manifold outlet to the flexy link pipe.

This is a discrete way to prevent the exhaust gasses passing through, if that's something you're happy to prevent, given the side effects of such a modification. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.

My understanding is that any detected modification to anti-pollution measures such as EGR and DPF will, in future, meet with an MOT fail, for good reason.
Is this correct ?

Yes. Any detection of emissions equipment modification will now result in a major MOT fail, meaning the vehicle can't be used until it's been corrected.

I had mine blanked for a while, then connected it again, and was rewarded by an increase in efficiency at cruising speeds, and reduced engine warm up times. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.
