"Parking Aid Alert - Camera Unavailable"

Seems the Freelander didn't take too kindly to me fixing the heater blower issue recently and has thrown another wobbly!

Have done a search but nothing came up so hoping that was pilot error at my end and someone can point me to the right thread or provide an answer.

Appears to be an intermittent fault but when it manifests there's a high pitched beep and the infotainment screen displays a message as above along with the additional text advising contact dealer - PDC doesn't work, no display on screen, etc.

First thing, the car doesn't have parking assist camera(s) and never has.

Haven't tried to see if the PDC switch LED comes on or can me switched on manually - SWMBOs car and not been able to fiddle with it as she's been out (sent a video of the problem from her phone).

Haven't got any DTC codes yet but do have a GAP IID tool so should be able to find them.

Anyone got any ideas??

Thanks.

That will be the ultrasonic sensors fitted into the rear (and front depending on option level) bumpers. Check for frayed wiring or wet connectors. The sensors themselves don’t like dampness and hate pressure washers.

PDC has been behaving fine since initially throwing a wobbly but have now had the chance to plug in the IID tool & check the DTCs - there are two both relating to the front right inner sensor. These tools are brilliant, if you don't have one you should! it's just saved me a load of grief getting the car booked in & at least an hours labour charge for diagnostic checking at a dealer/indy.

Looks like this weekend I'll be checking the wiring loom & cleaning connections, I may even try to get a replacement sensor too & swap it out while I'm at it. That way if the fault returns I can be pretty certain it's the loom - which I'm hoping it's not!!!

What IID tool are you using? I need to get one as I have parking sensor issues, along with another few typical FL2 issues!

I've got a GAP IID Bluetooth device, there's one for sale at the moment, no connection to seller
