Are they causing an issue with something else, or you just want rid of them because they are in the way? Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !
Now retired so it doesn't matter anymore.
Freelander now gone.

Yes but they will leave holes, and could even upset the stereo system.
If you don't need them, just don't use them. I use mine often, actually 3 times today alone. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Ok, so long story short, I couldn't retrofit the media controls due to there being no cut out for the phone buttons. But as it turns out the buttons are quite easy to remove.
