freelander 2 TD4 boost problems

Hi all. I'm looking for some advice. I have a 07 freelander2 2.2 td4 with 250k kilometres on it.. recently it was loosing power, oil around d turbo, turbo noise. so I had a recon turbo fitted. jeep was transformed and drove without fault for 2wks. then it started to get the same sudden loose of power with no lights showing on the dash.. literally jeep lost power like flicking a switch. my buddy plugged it in and it showed up a glow plug fault and a turbo actuator fault. swapped out the actuator from the old turbo and again it drove away fine for a month or more. the same issue has reappeared and once again without warning or any lights coming on on the dash and again getting it plugged in its showing the same faults.. can anyone suggest where to start? the jeep never shows signs of a glow plug issue, always starts first tip.Again it can drive away fine for a week and the do it 2days o
a row a few times a day.. TIA

Wot PRadd said. Jeep is a four letter word, we don't do jeep on this forum - try a Jeep forum.

Apart from being a 4 letter word, a jeep is a miltitary vehicle designed to last a fortnight, however you state a reconditioned turbo, there are various reconditioned states ranging from a quick blast with cleaner to a proper rebuild, cost does not always guarantee a decent product, do I assume you have no warranty on the unit, I would suggest you purchase a warranted turbo from a reliable company, though there may be a problem in Ireland Rolling with laughter
You may have a glow plug resistance change on one of the plugs but not affect starting especially in milder climates, To check glow plugs, disconnect all plugs from the common rail ten measure to to eart each one in turn, the reading should be less than 5 Ohms conventionall about 3 Ohms my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Even if the new turbo was good, unless the reason for the original failure is discovered then the new one can fail in rapid succession.
Often the oil supply or return is compromised, turbo re-manufacturers will refuse warranty unless you can prove that new oil feed / return hoses and any gauze filters have been replaced.

It might not even be the turbo, if an actuator is failing, disturbing it might allow it to work for a short while, but it can just as easily fail again.

Hope you get it fixed soon - and cheaply Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

That's a bit harsh Dartman - but I get your point Whistle

I previously had a 4.7l V8 Jeep Grand Cherokee - awesome power, but to drive was like a chesterfield which was great & not all at the same time!
