United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Santorini Black

That's Land Rover stealers, quite happy to take your money for extended warranty to cover what could go wrong ie DPF.

A friend of mine bought a new DS with extended service plan, when the car asked for an oil service at 11k the stealers said no they only cover oil changes only at normal intervals as per service schedule

I've never heard of any DPF problems with any Euro 5, 2.2 powered LR model doing short trips. It’s the 2.0 ingenium ones that have DPF troubles and not just on short journeys either! Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
Evoque SD4 Dynamic Lux Auto
Present: Audi A3 S Line.

I had the DPF warning on my 2012SD after 9 months in Cyprus, It was reported by the garage it came up during a service but disappeared, it never occurred again, however I found out it was doing many short journeys of about a half mile, as my wife was running about the base for meetings. We then bought a Jimny for her and only used the FL2 for trips external to the base, it was very noticeable the MPG dropped seriously out there and even when just filling and resetting the mileage and avg consumption I could never get over 40mpg on the airport runs after 2 years there. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

I'd say 40 mpg from an SD4 is good going, I get 35 max on a run and 29-30 local driving Rolling Eyes

That was the computer readout, considering the journey was mainly on motorway with a 100kmh limit it was easily achieved,( admittedly the cruise was set at just below 70mph,just over 1800rpm) so in real terms about 38mpg, the point was that mpg dropped possibly due to short runs and regens were more frequent . my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

I put something on a thread last year about DPF pipe failure and some images It's the second time I have had one go on a FL2 and a LR Assist guy told me that it's very common. The problem is that LR use too short a rubber pipe so it bends tightly and splits where it connects to a steel pipe. Its part of the system for measuring pressure difference across the DPF which activates a pressure sensor if too high. So if one pipe is leaking I guess you don't get any regeneration
