Not possible..there is no access through the grill into the latches (without some butchery)! Just checked on mine, the options look really limited Sad (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

It looks blocked off. Another idiot stuck their finger in there first before the red trim tool. It was a tight fit & I had to wiggle it to get it out. There is a flap which seals the back of the grill. Maybe mine being a younger model one can still get in! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Yes, I suspect it is possible on the later facelift models. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

Would it help if you removed all the lower bumper fixings and side fixings then pulled the bumper forwards a bit and maybe get your hand or a tool in to open the latch?

On my last car, I ended up butchering the grill as the only way in, so I then added a back-up pull cable that I left tucked up in the under tray, just in case. Always intended doing the same to the FL2 but never yet got round to it, so thanks for the reminder! Smile 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

Thank you guys for all your suggestions
As you all worked out the videos are all for middle catches not the F2 double ones, there's no room to reach from below, from the wheel arch or through the grill.
Sooooo biting the credit card I tried wedges.

As you can see it got me about 15mm gap, out with the recuperating saw and I managed too cut through the 'D' shaped catch and hay presto

Well Done Axle.

Please can you re-title this topic so that it acts as an information post for when we need it.

( I am surprised that the loop is welded to the bonnet, as I assumed, when I looked, that the threaded arm was only bolted with that nut) FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
