London LEZ - Charges - 8th April - Impact on Diesel cars

With a few days to go before the Emissions charge comes into play - can we expect the value of our Diesel cars to come crashing down when charges come into play 24/7?

The FL2 is not a city car, and I imagine that those that own them tend not to drive through polluted city centres if they can help it. So no, I dont think it will have much effect on our FL2s. Jules

So why are diesel cars being hit so hard when are back up electricity comes from diesel generators by the thousands
25 of these sites across the UK now. Still i guess it helps back up the grid when we all plug in so called green electric cars that are recharged with electric from diesel power !
The worst fact is that these generators come under plant and machinery soo are either non euro compliant for emissions or Euro 4 only.

These sites don't run full time but one report I read says 1 site burnt 978,000 litres of diesel in 1 year.
The tax relief these sites are offered are massive! and for polluting the planet. Somethings wrong somewhere

The video says it all really

 Jaguar x-type sport gone
Jaguar x-type 2.2d sport one of my best cars ever sadly gone
Freelander 2 GS auto 2008 most unreliable ever ! gladly gone
Freelander 2 GS manual 2013 only time will tell !

Some extra tariffs on diesels have been out there a while... in 2016, the resident’s parking permits in Camden went up by around 18% for some diesels... so our particular 2009 2.2 FL2 cost us more to park there than either our 2002 4.0V8 XK8 or the RR P38 4.6V8 we just sold off... and for true madness, in this new ULEZ, the 2002 4.0 V8 XK8 doesn’t cop the extra charge, but our 2.2 2009 FL2 does!!... Shocked

Newer diesels don’t suffer the same fate, so I also doubt that the ULEZ will affect FL2 prices... Lexus RX450H - 500 mile a week commuter- I just couldn’t trust in a newer RRS or DS for that….
2009 Freelander 2 HSE... 155K miles, we’ve done 135k of those, has done brilliantly on the commute and staying firmly put as car two in the household
2002 Jaguar XK8 Coupe... fun, fast, ours for 12 years and owes us nothing - so staying with us too…
