Whatever next????

Just had a bloke come in and ask me to check out the exhaust on his Prius - it started making a noise when he came out of the supermarket. Apparently it was okay when he went in. I told him he'd probably hit a speed bump but he assured me he hadn't. When I looked underneath, someone had sawn it off and nicked his cat for scrap value. Just chopped the wiring going to the lambda too. Gonna cost him 1,500 plus to get it replaced. He was only in there less than 10 minutes.

England 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Santorini Black

CAT theft used to be pretty common a few years back, but I thought it had all been eradicated now as they so rarely need replacing these days.
I mean... who the hell walks round with a cutter on the off chance they will get one to fit their car, and why pick a Prius? cant be easy getting underneath to cut it off

I think it was stolen for scrap money. Jacked up. battery powered hacksaw and away you go. I also think Prius because being a hybrid, it wont be as hot when they first switch off (cats get extremely hot and stay hot for a long time), especially if they've driven there using the electric motor. My local exhaust centre says its common on Prius's. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
