I have sucessfully changed the oil in my LR2, 3.2, i6. I have decided to use a fully synthetic oil.

Everything went well, better than expected.

Hi I know it's been a long while since your oil change and I guess you've done many more - is it pretty straightforward ? F2 3.2 i6 for the white stuff

Funny this should pop up today as I've just done my i6, fourth time in the two years I've had it, passed it's mot yesterday as well, three advisories 1. was tested on lpg...? 2. light corrosion...it is 11 years old! 3. engine covers etc... Common sense isn't very common.

So Axle - glad you responded - I note that diy manuals for the i6 are about as available as rocking horse doo doo and the chaps on youtube are all over the D4 etc like a rash but nothing on the i6. Could I ask about ease of access to the filter and is it a throw away type or cartridge ? where do you tend to get yours from ? and do you use the Castrol Edge 0-30 or something else ? any tips greatly appreciated F2 3.2 i6 for the white stuff

I have a land rover cd that I bought for a discovery and was very surprised and pleased when I found it covered the si6., the normal Haynes manual will do for most things.
Oil filter is a bit tight too get to but I've had some a hell of a lot worse, standing at the front of the car look to the left below the power steering reservoir and you can just see it, the reservoir can be slid upwards to make more room, the filter is a paper throw away type. I bought a bulk order from Advanced Factors who are a site sponsors on here, just have a look at the forum header. Yes I use Castrol Edge, get it from Asda when it's on special. Common sense isn't very common.

Yes that filter's a fiddly to get out !! and of course made the school boy error of failing to remove the washer with the sump drain plug and watched it plop into 8 litres of black engine oil !! Doh !

All done now though along with rear brake pads so well chuffed ! F2 3.2 i6 for the white stuff
