Check the 8th character on the VIN. B =no dpf, c = dpf. All models post 2010/2011 are built with dpf.

The dpf requirement came in when the cars became compliant with the Euro5 standards which was late 2010 / early 2011. |

You can also tell if it has a DPF by looking at the engine cover. If there are 4 "church organ" style tubes lying ontop of the cover, you don't have a dpf |

What a fantastic tip! Thanks very much. I've owned mine for close to a year now (happily!) and I always suspected it never had a DPF but was never sure. I am now! I'm sure DPFs are fine but I've heard way too many horror stories when they go wrong. I had a diesel Avensis before which didn't have the DPF and it gave me no trouble. Ever. Prior to that I had a Volvo S60 and it went pear shaped to the point of getting rid of it. |
